Here are the pictures I’ve found so far. I’ll be adding more as I find them.
As of about 10am on Thursday, March 5th, the official word (from interviews with Bozeman officials on the Dave Visscher show) is that there have been no casualties. But admittedly they think it’s to soon to tell. It’s speculated that it was a 12″ gas main that lead to the explosion. It’s also been speculated that it’s the same gas main that lead to the closing of main street a year ago. As of now the gas is still burning and they’ve called in a specialized team who can do a live capping of the burning gas line. If it’s not capped in time the fire could keep claiming buildings. As you can see in the pictures, the Rbar is still standing but it appears that the damage is very extensive. Boodles, however, is a pile of rubble.

Thanks Kyle. I just added those in to the mix. That Rbar sign is a sad sad picture.
So good to hear all the business staff are okay, hope is no other bad news on that front. I worked the downtown barrel in college, before and after the R-Bar remodel. It’s a sad, sad day.
Yeah, I’ve heard rumors of injuries but non of the official reports have mentioned anything about it.
It was crazy, i live 2 blocks north, knocked pictures and clocks off the wall. At first i thought it was an earthquake, then i looked out my window and say a huge column of smoke rising.
Got word from the R-Bar peeps that all R Bar employees are safe. Pickle Barrel too. No word yet from other places. My prayers are with our Bozeman brothers and sisters right now.
Everything from the Rug Gallery to Starkies are complete losses.
I am so proud of your Bozeman Montana, the response from the city, fire dept, friends, they were so awesome… My buisness a block away felt it this morning… alot of windows are broke.. lots of prayers for friends and families…..
I am glad that so far no injuries. In these difficult times you see how the community comes together as one, as it should be… Take care, and I hope that rebuilding is in the future for those business that were lost.
