The Jim Beam Guitar Photo Contest was a HUGE success.  We wanted to build our fan base on Facebook as well as give away one of our Jim Beam acoustic guitars in a creative way that involved all of our fans whether they entered or not.  This contest had big entertainment value!  Before the contest was announced we had just under 2000 Facebook fans.  As of this writing we’re at 3270!

The Beamur.

I know I’ve raised this question before, but I believe it has been a year or two.  Being that is indeed the 5th of May or Cinco de Mayo to my German peeps, there is sure to be gallons upon gallons of Mexican beer drank today.

We all know that Corona is the brand that has been marketed and shoved down our throats for many years here in the states and for that reason is the most popular. To the people of Mexico, from what I understand, it’s basically goat piss.  Cheap, smelly, skunky, goat piss.

On the contrary, I’ve yet to hear anything negative about my personal choice, Pacifico.  Which leads me to believe that it’s even a debate….

Corona in a clear bottle which lets more sunlight in and thus, creates more opportunity for the skunk to arrive?  Pacifico, which is not a product of America’s media machine, has a brown bottle that does not let in the evil rays of the sun, and is just a better product in general?

Choose wisely……the hangover could prove too powerful.

DISCLAIMER:  Listen.  It’s beer.  I’ll drink either one for that matter.  This is just a fun way for me to create drama like the media.  I know that there’s gonna be misguided, sans-logic Corona Nazis out there.  Great.  Good for them.

After wiping hot tea off my monitor that I sprayed after complete awe and hysterical gasping, I came to grips with the reality of the sitch.  Wyclef Jean, the Haitian singer/songwriter and founding member of the Fugees, USED to puff tough.  You know he had some of the best shit too….

I did a phone interview with Kay Johnson from The Hutchinson Leader (our hometown paper) in regards to our gig in Hutch next Wednesday. She mentioned us in her podcast. I really love being back home, hearing all of these Minnesota accents all over the place. It’s rite-ch.  Here’s what they had to write about our “Heartless Wench” duet name.

My father in-law had me peeing my pants yesterday when I went and saw him for my taxes.  He has some great one-liners and sayings that he pulls out from time to time.  “That guy goes through money faster than shit through a tin horn!” HEH!  Another one is, “Honestly.  That guy there is so dumb, he couldn’t pour piss out of a boot!”

To him, they’re just that; sayings……stuff he’s heard and said his whole life, that is now commonplace in his vernacular.  To me, it’s pure comedic bliss.  Authentic frontier jibberish at its finest.  A generational smorgasboard of jargon.   We’ve all heard ‘em…….”Crabbier than a bear with a sore ass”….”Straight as a Grizzly’s dick”……then there’s just the single words.  “Puddychuckin”……”Fiddlefartin”…..etc.

Take this feller here in the pic for example.  You know he’s thinking something like, “Dadgummit…this here shitter shoe is gonna come in on that there stake hotter than a snake’s ass in a wagon rut!”

Kweej has got some shitten doozies too man……..I’ll let him drop you with some comments though, as to not steal his thunder.  I wanna hear some of your favs……

Now that we have double the channels since the merging of the two satellite radio giants, it’s double the pleasure as well.   Similar stations such as Boneyard (XM) and Hair Nation (Sirius) offer the same genres, but different playlists, so as to not air the same tunes at the same time……righteous indeed.

Lately I’ve been jonesing on XM Chill, which is “dance electronica,” but not so much in the Brussel’s discoteque vain as it is the “vibey as shit, sitting in the steam room with a 12 year scawtch at the Spa” vain.  It’s bizzare, I know.  When I drove Mang to Billings Tuesday for the St. Pat’s party, I had  Chill on the whole way there and back.  I just zoned and was rollin’……….Kweej has never slept better.  Different vibes for different peeps.

AJ had told me a week or so ago that my birthday present was “en route” because he had to order it online.  Fast forward to St. Pat’s in Billings……

I already had a voicemail from him saying “Dude, its Urge, YUR!!  I have your birthday present with me…..it’s fucking badass!”

I’m unloading the trailer at Bones and he comes walking up with something in his hand and says “Here you go man, Happy Birthday.” When I actually looked at the front of it I nearly shit my pants with laughter/shock/the beef stick I bought in Big Timber and danced for joy.  “Could it be,  (thinking out loud) that a Griz fan of such stature and loyalty could find humor in such shenanigans?”

Needless to say, from any other person (except maybe Andy Waters or Annie Simkins) it would have just been a t-shirt.  But from Ur Jur, it was an instant shitten classic that will be worn by a Montana State alumnus with pride!

When I asked what the catch was, he said “Nothing…………well, maybe you can come with me to a tailgate in Missoula this fall, get shitty, and cock off to people. HEH!”  Neat.  Charming.

Our friends from Minnesota, the Johnson family, surprised us in West on Saturday at the Expo.  Turns out that their annual family ski trip was taking them to Grand Targhee this year, and a nice pit stop along the way happened to be West Yellowsnow and a Clintons concert.

Their plan was to show up at our gig that night and watch our jaws drop to the floor…alas, myself (The Dawg) was busted in the hallway of the hotel by the young Johnson whippersnappers, and the jig was up….at least for me.  Jay aka MNflyfish informed me of a 12 pack of Leinie’s HoneyWeiss that had survived the trip, and within minutes, it was in my fridge.  I accepted it as a peace offering for keeping my yapper shut to the fellas about our distinguished guests….it was so worth it.

I told Jay and Nuala that I would be referencing said episode in my blawg for Monday…..I did not tell them I’d be posting a pic.  I hope their ski trip to Targhee will be as Grand as the time they spent in West at the show!!

I don’t have a sweet tooth at all.  I rarely eat dessert, and I sure as hell don’t eat candy.  I will say though that after trying several different kinds of caramels made by Bequet Confections out of Bozeman, I have discovered a new found glory (not the band, they were discovered years ago).

Kate got some caramels for Christmas from someone, and I’ve seen them around in various local shops and restaurants.  They have several kinds but my fav is the Celtic Sea Salt and the Chipotle.  Chipotle caramels you say???  Hot damn, that’s right!  Just one sample will have you saying, “WELL SHIT THE BED AND CALL ME MARTHA!!!  THEMS ARE GOOD….WOOOOOOOHOOOOOOHOOOOOHOOOO!!!!!   HOO.”

I keep hearing that I look like this guy when I’m on stage flailing around, especially if I’m playing drums. Must be the intensity and hair……or perhaps my inaudible grumblings and random bursts of vocalized energy.

Is being compared to a Muppet a sign that I’m a desperado at the end of my pitiful rope?  Could it be that I have infinite juvenile qualities of my demeanor???  I guess it could be worse……maybe this video will help…

I know you’ve heard of the all female AC/DC tribute band Hell’s Belles, and if for some shitty reason you haven’t, consider yourself informed. All you need to know is that these ladies put on one HELL (paaaahhhhh!) of a show!! Every venue they play is at capacity and the showmanship is unreal.

Adrian (Angus) runs around like a banshee in that school outfit and plays like she got shot out of a cannon. Although I’m biased, my fav is Jamie (Brian Johnson). We went to high school together back in Minnesota, and she has a swagger and charisma that can only be rivaled by her voice.

Bring the posse and go show them some love in Missoula tonight (Badlander) and at the Zebra in The ‘Zone tamale night (Sat. 7th)!!! PEEPS BE OUT!!!

To close out a weekend of debaucherous celebration, the afternoon of my day of birth was spent at the Lone Peak Brewery in Big Sky. From the moment we walked in, we were smothered by the aroma of malted hops and barley mash being cooked……..beauty, Clark.

The setting itself was extremely choice ‘ne boss, with a rustic/industrial motif and a bitchin’ shuffleboard table!

We spent 3 hours sucking down suds and chucking pucks and if that wasn’t satisfying enough…..we found a party pig that we were introduced to the night before at the yurt dinner. You can rent them or buy them at the brewery, and they have coolers for them as well. I need to get my hands on one of those, man! (insert gift hint here)
