Tuesday Nightcap #43 – Bailin

SHOW NOTES: John croons this eleven year old gem for his buddy Jim Napier, whom the song was written about.  For the newbies reading this, it’s a joke that Jim was born in 1987 (try ’76).  We sort of got “stuck in a rut” for a few years in our early twenties. Might as well let that rut be a story for a song!

Bailin – lyrics

Your feet can get tired when you get to hip hoppin’ it with the groove,
and you try to tell yourself it’s nothing
I hate to burst your bubble babe, but all this dancin’s catching up to you
Another day of feeling uninspired, another evening of not sleeping,
And all of these days keep rolling on.

Someplace greener, a tad bit cooler, a little nicer maybe someplace warm,
Anywhere I can kick my feet up and then keep dancin’ all night long
A different direction, to mix the monotony kicking in my mind
I’m thinking about bailin’ for awhile.

Hey good buddy, do you remember when? Friend, I’m tired of remembering,
It’s nice to make a few new memories every now and then,
The same old story, same ol’ line, same stupid people always getting into fights,
It seems this book is never ending.

So how do I change this, why would I ever wanna be another down and out,
I keep believing a change is coming my way so in the
Meantime I’ll be hanging, while the world around me’s spinning, always spinning,
If I’m not an hour too early I’m a minute too late.

My destiny’s right in front of me, at least that’s what she’d say.
Take a good look at it now, cuz it’ll be gone someday, it’ll be gone someday.
