– Josephus Daniels (18 May 1862-15 January 1948) was appointed Secretary of the Navy by President Woodrow Wilson in 1913. He banned the serving of alcohol on ships in 1914.
From that time on, the strongest drink aboard Navy ships could only be coffee and over the years, a cup of coffee became known as “a cup of Joe”.

Now when Rawdge talks about “Joe” all the time I know why. The real quiz is finding out what he means when he tells someone to “eat your heart out.” I still don’t get that one…..
A couple of weeks ago, I was on thesixtyone searching for some new killer music for the FREE RIDE RADIO podcast, when I came across a funk/rock/jazz/punk band out of New York by the name of Code Anchor.
They’re incredibly diverse and having some really vibey shit. Check them out on their myspace as well and listen to some tunes. Thesixtyone is a great place to discover new music and create a playlist to share. You can earn points by playing songs/bands off your playlist and by “bumping” them up the charts. In this Moment is another bitchin’ band that I found out about there as well. Those guys are from Cali and are heavier, but they’re tight and shitten rock man!!
My mainstay when I’m back in my hometown is the Gold Coin (or Cold Groin if you’re a local). Not only is their staple the homemade Mai Tai (I refer to Happy Hour as “Mai Tai, touch thigh” time), but Bill and Mary Leung have the best karaoke bar in the county. That’s probably not saying much, but just roll with it ………
The pre-party for tonight is down at the Cold Groin and I fully intend on using their amenities…..Mawm and Dad have the posse coming in and the gig at the Bonfire tonight will be completely insane. So, in turn, I need to pull my weight and throw down. The Dawg abides….
Take this one with a grain of salt……..or a Grain Belt. We’d been playing for 5 hours at this point and were well imbibed (and endowed in my case….). It pains me somewhat to watch this. Dawg’s gonna do what Dawg’s gonna do.
